- Attend the September 4 and September 18 preparation meetings.

Mandatory Meeting: Friday, October 2, 2026, after the Accounting Society meeting in LH-2201, approximately 6:30–7:15 PM.
All interested candidates must attend to be eligible for membership. Members and inductees must also attend.
About Beta Alpha Psi
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for financial information students and professionals. Its primary objective is to encourage and recognize scholastic and professional excellence.
This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems; providing opportunities for professional development, service, and association among members and practicing professionals; and encouraging ethical, social, and public responsibility.
FGCU's official chapter is the Mu Lambda Chapter.

Candidate / Member Requirements
- Before becoming a candidate, the student needs to complete at least one upper-level major course with a grade of B or better (Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems). Exceptions are at the discretion of the faculty advisor.
- At the time of candidacy, a student must have at least one academic year remaining at FGCU (fall–spring or spring–fall).
- All candidates must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher from an AACSB-accredited university.
- All candidates must have a GPA in their major of 3.0 or higher (Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems) to be inducted.
- Graduate candidates must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- All candidates must attend the mandatory Beta Alpha Psi Candidate Meeting prior to application acceptance.
- The application for candidacy must be submitted the Thursday before the mandatory meeting. Payment of the candidate fee must be submitted at the end of the mandatory meeting to become a candidate.
- Every candidate shall provide at least eight 1-hour tutoring sessions in core accounting per semester while involved with Beta Alpha Psi.
- Complete the privacy policy and deliver it to the faculty advisor.
Mu Lambda's goal is to consistently meet Gold Status. Candidates and members are expected to be dedicated and motivated to exceed chapter requirements.
Candidate-to-Member Process
- Once accepted as a candidate (fees paid and entered into the BAP intranet), the candidate completes the candidate requirements.
- The candidate remains in good standing by maintaining the required GPA and completing candidate requirements.
- After one full semester as a candidate in good standing, the candidate transitions to Inductee status. The inductee will be inducted at the end of the second semester if they remain in good standing.
- The membership process is two steps: first semester as a Candidate; second semester as an Inductee.
- To become a member, the inductee must attend the induction ceremony at the end of the second semester.
- Accelerated membership: if a candidate is chosen as a chapter officer, they may be inducted immediately before taking office.
Candidate and Member Participation Requirements
- Be a student member of at least one approved professional organization: FICPA, IIA, and/or IMA.
- Participate in at least one chapter-sponsored volunteer event per semester (examples include Eagle Expo, Majors Fair, and other approved opportunities).
- Attend at least six chapter meetings per semester, including sanctioned Accounting Society and IMA-SC meetings.
- Participate in chapter fundraising events sponsored or supported by Mu Lambda.
- Achieve the minimum point requirement each semester: 800 points. Points are based on time (1 point per minute), with a minimum of 50 minutes for an activity to count. The 16-hour semester requirement is satisfied through at least six professional activities and six service events such as tutoring.
- Service and professional activities above the minimum requirements may also earn points when sponsored or supported by Mu Lambda. High-point awards are presented at the end-of-semester New Membership Ceremony.
Current Cost Information
- One-time non-refundable candidate fee: $100 (subject to change without notice).
- The current chapter page states that $85 supports the Beta Alpha Psi Executive Office fee and the remainder helps cover chapter costs such as a polo shirt.
- Candidates/members may also have membership costs for the professional organization(s) they select.

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation supports fourth-year, fifth-year, and graduate-level accounting students pursuing the CPA profession in Florida.

CPA Exam Prep ScholarshipsFGCU Foundation Scholarships
FGCU Foundation scholarships include awards based on major, academic achievement, financial need, leadership, and other donor criteria.
Accounting students should complete the FGCU Foundation Scholarship Application to be considered for Foundation scholarships for which they qualify, including awards that are restricted to accounting students.
Next cycle: The 2027–2028 application is expected to open October 1, 2026.
